Organ Morgan, better known as Blaenavon drummer Harris McMillan, has dropped a new single in the form of ‘I Just Pretend’. The track is a potent blend of influences from folk and britpop, with almost industrial percussion clattering in the background, juxtaposing his delicately melodic lead vocal. Some of his harmonic and structural choices are reminiscent of the innocence of Syd Barret’s solo work. He describes the track as “a late addition to our Scottish recordings. The sun had set prematurely and I was standing around on the jetty, already feeling a little wistful about leaving. The song resonated with us; it’s a series of vivid snapshots - the small feeling of loss that comes with any perfect moment that you know you’ll have to carry around with you.” The single is taken from Organ Morgan’s upcoming debut EP, Figurehead. -Dan Peeke.
